The Senior Aide Program offers low-income older adults, (age 55 and
over) the opportunity for part-time employment and skill enhancement
while helping communities address vital needs.
Senior Aides may work as teacher’s aides, receptionists, computer
operators, custodians, child and adult care workers, bookkeepers,
library workers and at many other sites that are designated as host
agencies. They earn minimum wage during the training period, which
helps them to make a transition to full or part time work in the private
sector while developing new skills. Formal and informal training
is given on the job and through job development services, classroom
training, private sector initiatives or a combination of these methods.
When needed, remedial literacy and basic skills classes are also
offered.
Clerical positions are available for Senior Aides in the following
