Community Support
Adult Day Health and Social Programs
Adult Day Health (ADH) and Social Day Care Programs offer social activities, meals, and support to elders in a supervised group setting. Adult Day Health Programs also provide medical supervision and treatments for elders with particular medical needs. Transportation can be arranged round trip for an elder to participate.
Councils on Aging and Senior Centers
Many cities and towns in Massachusetts have a Council on Aging (COA), which provides assistance at a central location, often called a Senior Center. This center may provide meals, recreational activities, exercise programs, health prevention activities, arts and crafts, or help acquiring services or benefits. Many Councils on Aging have outreach programs to assist elders who may be isolated, home bound and require supportive services in their homes.
