Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, Inc. announces merger with North Shore Elder Services

The Board of Directors for Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley and the Board of Directors of North Shore Elder Services are announcing their intention to merge the two organizations effective July 1, 2019.

Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley will remain the sole entity of the merger agreement. However, services to clients in Danvers, Marblehead, Middleton, Peabody, and Salem will be continued under the name, North Shore Elder Services. Joan Hatem-Roy will be the Chief Executive Officer for the combined organization. Paul Lanzikos, current Executive Director of North Shore Elder Services, will take on an external support role focusing on furthering relationships with public policy makers, the business community, and donors. Operations will continue to be provided through current locations in Lawrence and Danvers.

North Shores Board Chair, Joseph Berardino commented, “This merger brings together two strong, highly regarded aging service organizations that have each been serving older adults and their families in northeastern Massachusetts for more than four decades.” CEO Joan Hatem-Roy stated, “This is an important and exciting action for both agencies as well as for the older adults and their families in the 28-community service area. Our combined strengths and resources will create many opportunities for innovative and expanded services.”

Since 1974, Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, Inc., a private, non-profit agency has managed a range of programs and services offering a variety of choices to help people maximize their independence and enable them to live safely in their own homes. North Shore Elder Services shares a common mission and offers similar programs and services.

Both Agencies are designated by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs as Aging Service Access Points (ASAP) under Chapter 19A of Massachusetts statutes as well as Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) under Title III of the federal Older Americans Act.
