Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley and North Shore has been awarded a grant to provide food to seniors by the Greater Lowell Community Foundation through funding from the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund.
This grant will help pay for locating and providing meals and groceries to seniors and elderly individuals unable to leave home due to COVID through late September.
“We are thankful to the Greater Lowell Community Foundation and the Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund for this grant which will help alleviate nutrition challenges faced by some of our seniors,” said ESMV-NS CEO Joan Hatem-Roy. “We are committed to providing nutritious foods and dietician services to those in need.”
ESMV-NS serves individuals and families in 28 communities. Our Nutrition Program includes Meals on Wheels, congregate dining, and nutrition counseling.
The Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund supports those across the state most affected by the COVID-19 health crisis, focusing on essential frontline workers and vulnerable populations including the homeless, immigrant populations, people with disabilities and those facing food insecurity.
The Relief Fund works with regional community foundations and nonprofit leaders who partner with local leaders to understand the response and relief landscape, strategically filling in where gaps are pronounced. For more information, visit MACovid19ReliefFund.org.
